The Department of Management at the University of Otago welcomes you to the website for the 29th Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) Conference which will be held at the Millennium Hotel, Queenstown, New Zealand from the 2nd to the 4th December 2015.
The Conference takes as its theme ‘Managing for Peak Performance’ (Mātua Whakarite kia Tutuki). Originally applied in the 1980s to efforts to coach high performance in individuals, ‘peak performance’ now embraces individual excellence, collaborative teamwork, and organisation development as an interdependent whole. An ever-changing environment brings challenges around creating superior products or services, expanding sales, increasing creativity and innovation, and ensuring process flexibility. Success demands high achieving management strategies to strive for peak performance through people, the organisation and adaptation to the environment. This Conference will provide scholars with a platform to explore how management strategies can deliver peak performance across a range of contexts. We believe that positioning the Academy in this arena will continue to enhance its appeal and relevance to the scholarly community as well as to practitioners and policy makers.
Although Queenstown is most famous for its bucket list of year-round high-octane adventure thrills, as a location it has something for everyone. Join us amongst the spectacular peaks of the Remarkables to sample award winning wines, explore the region’s trails by foot or by bike, take a scenic boat cruise across the blue waters of Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station; the options are endless. It’s no exaggeration to say you can experience more in Queenstown in a day than most do in a lifetime.
The high quality combination of the location and emerging programme promises to deliver a unique and enjoyable Conference.
We look forward to welcoming you to Queenstown in 2015.
